For veterans and walking football

Walking football and veterans' leagues are full of players with decades of stories. An Icon style card for each member, with career stats and a rating that reflects their glory years, makes a brilliant gift for a club dinner.

The stats can mix the serious and the funny: league titles, Sunday league goals, knee operations survived and pints bought after the match.

For coaches

A coach who has given years to a club deserves a card of their own. Use the stats for seasons coached, players developed, trophies won and early mornings setting up cones.

A retirement or leaving gift from the squad feels far more personal as a card with the club's colours and a favourite photo than as a generic present.

Filling in the template

Upload a photo, old or new, and zoom until the face fills the space. Add the name the player is known by at the club, a position and six stats. A position from their playing days adds a nice touch.

If you cannot decide on a rating, ask their old teammates to vote. It is half the fun.

Old photos

Scan an old print at good resolution. We remove the background, so a faded team photo works well.

Crop the scan to the player before you upload if the photo is a big team shot, and pick the clearest face. A photo that was taken decades ago can still make a striking card.

Which size suits a legend

A5 is ideal as a personal keepsake on a desk. A3 or A2 suits a wall at home. For a veterans' club or a retirement night, an A1 or A0 Icon card makes a proper presentation piece. Prices start from £18.00.

Clubs marking a big anniversary often want to honour past players. An Icon style card for each name on the honours board, displayed together in the clubhouse, tells the club's history in a way visitors actually stop to read.

Set the same six stat labels for every card, such as appearances, goals, seasons, trophies, years of service and club spirit, so the display holds together as a set.
