The card maker is where every CardStar card starts. Pick a design for your sport, upload a photo and we remove the background for you. Add the player's name, position and six stats, and watch the preview update as you type. When it looks right, choose a size and order. If none of the designs fit, Create your own lets you choose the card shape and background yourself. Every card is printed to order and cut to its own outline.

Step one: choose a design

Designs are grouped by sport, so start with the one the player plays: football, rugby, cricket, basketball and many more. Each design has its own frame, colours and layout for the photo, name and stats, so a rugby card looks different from a tennis one before you have typed a word.

If you want a Premier League style look, pick one of the FUT and FIFA style football designs. If you want something completely different, Create your own lets you pick the shape of the card and the background behind the player.

Step two: add the photo

Upload a clear photo of the player. We remove the background automatically, so you do not need a plain wall behind them. Move and zoom the photo until the player sits well in the frame.

Photos with a sharp, well lit face give the best result. A match shot from the touchline works as well as a posed portrait, and a photo taken in daylight is usually better than one with the flash on. Landscape or portrait both work, as long as the face is not tiny.

Step three: name, position and stats

Type the name the player goes by and a position, such as ST, CB or fly-half. Then fill the six stats. They can be real numbers from a season or something more personal, like Banter, Heart or Sunday morning grit.

The preview updates instantly, so try a few versions before settling. A short, punchy label reads better on the finished card than a long one, so if a stat name looks cramped in the preview, shorten it.

Step four: size and order

Choose a size from A5 to A0. As a guide, A5 suits a desk or a shelf, A3 suits a bedroom wall, and A1 or A0 is a statement piece for a clubhouse. Prices start from £18.00.

Each card is made to order, cut to the outline of its design and printed on rigid, waterproof EcoBoard, so it comes ready to hang. We manufacture in the UK, the EU and the USA and deliver worldwide.

Tips for a better card

Keep the name short enough to read at a glance. Use stats that mean something to the player, even if they are not match data. Pick a design whose colours suit the photo, and zoom the photo until the face is a good size in the frame. Finally, read every field in the preview before ordering, especially spellings.

If you are making cards for a whole squad, use the same design and the same six stat labels for everyone so the set looks matched.

Give the details a personal reason

Before finishing, think about the memory you want the card to keep. A first practice, a shared outing or encouragement from a teammate can guide your choices. A short note with the gift can explain why that photo and those details mattered, connecting the finished design to the recipient's own story.

Questions, answered

Do I need design skills?

No. The designs are ready made; you add the photo and details and the card maker handles the layout.

What is Create your own?

It lets you choose the card shape and the background yourself, rather than starting from one of our designs.

Can I edit the card after adding the photo?

Yes. You can change the photo, name, position and stats before you order, and the preview shows every change.

What makes a good photo?

A sharp, well lit photo where the player's face is clear. We remove the background, so the setting does not matter.
